SEO Spam Email: True Web Technologies (again…)

This is one in a series of posts reviewing and looking at how some of the SEO companies which use bulk emails/spam with ‘we can help your terrible site’ type emails really can (and actually mostly can’t!) help your site.

Read some simple explanations of some of the SEO terms used on this post…

I was first spammed by True Web Technologies back in February, when they thought that the previous version of my business site needed some help (it didn’t…). But now it’s in its new format, they still seem to think it needs some help!!!

This email came from a Vikas using an @netnode.in email, although subsequent replies have come from a Yogesh using an @trueweb.agency email. (If you go to netnode.in it takes you to trueweb.biz, another site for True Web; and going to trueweb.agency sends you to https://www.truewebtechnologies.com/ the ‘real’ site for this company. The previous spam from them had initially come from an @searchengineoptimization.live email. So they appear to have a number of ‘spammy’ fronts…)

Here’s the initial email from Vikas:

Hi James,

Hope you are doing well.

We did detailed analysis for your website https://seospam.xyz & found there are lots of scope in your website and for this need to optimize your website in some major area to make your website Search Engine Friendly and increase traffic, visibility & CTR.

Here are some major technical issues which need to fix on website on high priority, for your quick view

• Domain Authority: Currently, the DA of the site is 08/100, domain authority greater than 40 is ideal to get high rankings for competitive keywords. We strongly recommend to build high quality and trusted links to the site in order to raise the DA.

• Meta Tags Optimization: Meta tag is not up to the mark, need to update meta tags based on keywords. Presence of keywords i

Meta Tags helps to increase search engine.

We need following change on the website:

· We need to update heading tag based on keywords that sends another relevancy signal to Google.

· Need to increase social media presence (Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, etc) and increase your social engagement.

· We need to add keywords oriented meta tags.

· Need to do regular News posting on the website.

Apart from the above changes, Below we have listed traffic oriented suggestion:

One of the best ways to increase traffic to your website is to use social media channels. ( Facebook, Twitter is ideal for short, snappy ( and tempting ) links, and you may find great traction with image-heavy social sites like Pinterest and Instagram.)

· Guest post on relevant blogs

· Submit your posts to Reddit

· Start a Facebook group that drives traffic to your site

· Connect with YouTube that drives the most engaged traffic out of all social media sites.

· Visit sites like Yahoo Answers or Quora and answer questions relevant to your niche.

· Comment on industry blogs

Kindly review the above suggestion and let me know in case of any query or clarification.

About your query :- Once will start we will fix all the issues and We will promote your website in Google. It will help you to get more sales and traffic.

We will work on your website month to month and we will do our activities to get your website on first page of Google. It will take 3/4 months to show up all your keywords on the first page of Google.

Once we start will assign a dedicated project manager for your work he will be in touch with you all updates. He will be sending you weekly updates along with monthly progress report which will give you complete idea about our work. I will be also in loop for all the conversation to track the progress of the work.

Please check our SEO packages in Below and let us know how many keywords you would like to start with :-

In the email at this point was a pricing table for the costs and number of keywords they would target. The table isn’t easily re-producible here, but I’ll say that the prices started at $125 a month for 10 keywords up to $599 for 80 keywords. So not what you’d call cheap then…

On with the rest of the email:

Along with SEO, we will also further take on SMO efforts like :-
• Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter Promotion
• Classified Submissions
• Local Google Listings
• Forum Postings
• Profile Creation on Top Social Networking sites
• Promotion of business profiles on social networking sites
• Social Bookmarking

Deliverables :-
• Weekly Work and Progress Updates
• Monthly Progress Report along with Ranking Report
• Monthly Traffic Analysis Report Extracted from Google Analytics Tool
• Monthly Complete Back Linking Report

Kindly share your thoughts and we shall proceed ahead.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Their Report & Recommendations

So they really do seem keen on selling my a keywords package and say they my existing keywords aren’t doing the job – only they’ve never asked me about what keywords I’m targeting on search engines. I think True Web Technologies might be mind readers!

But let’s look at the ‘technical issues’ they say need fixing’ on my site now:

Domain Authority: Currently, the DA of the site is 08/100, domain authority greater than 40 is ideal to get high rankings for competitive keywords. – Domain Authority is a guide used by SEO ranking to see how important search engines think your site might be. And the more important (and the higher number out of 100) the better. They say that the site’s current number is 8. THIS IS WRONG! I’ve just run a DA check on the site and it’s 21! (Oh and their site is 11…!)

Meta Tags Optimization: Meta tag is not up to the mark, need to update meta tags based on keywords. – Hmmm, again them seem to magically know about the keywords I’m using. All the keywords I’m targeting (like web design and minehead) are in my site’s meta tags. And guess what, I’m already on the first page of Google for those sorts of term. So basically THIS IS WRONG.

We need to update heading tag based on keywords that sends another relevancy signal to Google. – Again, I’ve got keyword friendly heading tags. So… THIS IS WRONG.

Need to increase social media presence (Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, etc) and increase your social engagement. – OK, I’m a big Twitter user (my account is in the site’s footer). However, I don’t want to use either Facebook or Instagram, so this is a very debatable point…

We need to add keywords oriented meta tags. – They’re just repeating themselves now. But still THIS IS WRONG.

Need to do regular News posting on the website. – What like this post exposing SEO spammers…?! Here we go again – THIS IS WRONG.

Next they give some other ‘social’ marketing suggestions:

All of those are legitimate ways of promoting a site and *can* be a way of getting more traffic. However, none are ‘magic bullets’ and they are all things you can easily do yourself. You DO NOT need to pay someone to do it for you! (Oh and I already do guest posts, and comment on industry blogs…)

Also, I’d only let people post on my behalf if I trusted them 1000% (yes I know that’s not a real number…). And I really wouldn’t trust an SEO spammer, who doesn’t seem to know what they’re talking about, to do this (and I don’t think you should either…).

In both the initial and follow emails, True Web Technologies also say that they get you on the first page of Google (which I’ve already got!) within 3/4 months. But remember…

So much like their first ‘report’ on my site, this one is full of errors…

Looking at Their Site

With SEO spammers, I also like to look at their sites, to see if they practice what they preach (I mean would you trust a plumber who had leaking and rusty pipes all over their own house?!); and also to compare their site with a site they say they can help…

I won’t do another full review of the True Web Technologies site, as it’s basically as terrible as it was the first time they spammed me. (In fact it’s actually now got MORE HTML issues and is still a complete mess accessibility wise. There is a Privacy Policy on the site now, but it’s worded so badly that it’s practically meaningless!)

Interestingly, True Web seem to be based around the corner from OrgeLogic, another SEO spammer who thought this site was terrible!

Conclusion

So as before, I certainly wouldn’t let True Web Technologies anywhere near my site. No decent company needs to use multiple spammy ‘fronts’ to try and generate business.

If you receive an email from netnode.in, trueweb.agency, truewebtechnologies.com or searchengineoptimization.live, the delete button is probably your best option.

But the choice, as ever, is yours.
